Awarded top training company for the second time
We would like to congratulate our subsidiary, Bücker + Essing GmbH, on once again being awarded the “Best Place to Learn®” seal of quality for in-company training. The BEST PLACE TO LEARN® training seal is a promise of above-average in-company training. It is awarded exclusively to companies that demonstrate that they provide young people with excellent qualifications. BEST PLACE TO LEARN® is based on a scientifically recognised quality model, analyses and evaluates all important aspects of training, involves instructors, trainees and ex-trainees through 360-degree feedback and is only awarded on the basis of representative results. In short, BEST PLACE TO LEARN® stands for respectability, trust and credibility.
Three years after the initial certification by the certification company AUBI-Plus, trainees, trainers and former trainees were asked again in November 2022 about the quality of the training in a 360°degree survey in seven subject areas. In the re-certification, Bücker + Essing once again received confirmation that it provides excellent training for young people.
Compared to the first certification, the high quality of the training could not only be maintained, but even expanded in many criteria.
The top results from the survey are:
- Trainees at Bücker + Essing are aware of what they do for the overall result and they especially appreciate learning on real customer orders.
- Our trainees feel very well integrated into the departments and valued.
- Our trainers are technically competent, can convey learning content well, prepare very well for exams and always have an open ear for the concerns of our trainees.
- Our trainees are proud of their profession and very satisfied with their training.
- Our apprentices would like to stay in our company in the future. They feel very connected to our company and want to be committed to the company.
We are very proud of the positive assessment by our trainees," explains HR Manager Carmen Krebs. "When young people are proud of their profession and feel connected to our company, it shows us that we are on the right track. We are particularly pleased that the strong practical relevance of our training and the good integration are so appreciated by the apprentices. Learning in the work process is the core of our training. By involving our apprentices step by step in work assignments and letting them pass through as many departments as possible, they obviously succeed in growing into their profession.
To this end, Bücker + Essing has introduced many measures in recent years that go beyond the actual training plan. For example, trainees from the administration and warehouse can slip into their overalls for a few days and get to know production or spend a few weeks of their training at a sister company.
Thanks to the open and constructive feedback from everyone involved, the certification shows us where we are already good and where we can further improve our in-company training," says Krebs.
One result of the initial certification, for example, was the introduction of a feedback culture. "Today, trainers and trainees exchange information every time there is a change of department. Our trainees receive feedback on their learning status, performance and behaviour - and they give feedback on what they liked or didn't like so much in the department. This is also a process that develops," explains Anna Geers, the person responsible for training in the commercial area at Bücker + Essing.
Compared to the first certification, Bücker + Essing has slightly improved in points. The trainers were particularly self-critical in the survey. "In the future, we need to support them even more and promote their knowledge, qualifications and competences as trainers as well as the exchange of experiences among each other," emphasises Krebs. "And although we give our trainees a takeover guarantee of at least three months after their training, we have realised: they want earlier and more intensive discussions about their career planning and their place in the company. We will work on that, too!"
Bücker + Essing regularly trains young people in four apprenticeship professions: precision mechanic, machining mechanic, warehouse logistics specialist and office management assistant.
Original quotes from the survey:
(...) I love working on metal with tools as well as on a lathe and milling machine or on a pillar drilling machine. Machining a workpiece with high strength/hardness exactly to size and being able to see the result of my work immediately afterwards makes me incredibly proud. Likewise, the knowledge that all the parts that are machined represent an essential value of our technology was decisive for the choice of my career." (quote apprentice)
What I particularly like about the training is that my trainer takes time for me at all times and helps me to cope with difficult situations and tasks". (Trainee quote)
I particularly like the independent work. I'm not constantly being looked over my shoulder, so I'm not under pressure". (Trainee quote)
