SERvices in COOperations in implementation: SERCOO Group strengthens motor division with acquisition of MWB Power GmbH
Lingen, 21.04.2023 - In mid-March, SERCOO Group expanded its service portfolio in the field of overhaul. With the acquisition of MWB Power GmbH, a specialist for large engine overhauls in marine, railway and decentralised power generation applications, as well as services in the LED sector, SERCOO Group has once again strengthened its position with regard to a comprehensive range of services for its customers. MWB Power from Bremerhaven perfectly complements the activities of Bücker & Essing GmbH in the existing segment of engines and rotating equipment and becomes part of SERCOO as an independent company.
With 30 employees, MWB Power is characterised by excellent service and innovative solutions for ship and locomotive engines - through a close interlocking of mobile field service and stationary repair. The infrastructure available in Bremerhaven, with its own pier, large workshops and crane capacities directly at Kaiserhafen, is designed for the repair of fast and medium-speed large engines. The location is also home to the Europe-wide LED service for industrial lighting concepts.
We are very pleased that in MWB Power GmbH we have found a strategic partner that suits us - on the one hand in terms of the range of services and on the other hand in terms of the corporate culture," says Markus Spitzer, CEO of the SERCOO Group.
Ralf Wöllert, Managing Director of Bücker + Essing and responsible for the entire Motors and Rotating Equipment division at SERCOO, is also pleased about this decisive step in the further development of the division, which will also secure the growth of Bücker + Essing at the Lingen site.
The larger joint service portfolio will enable us to serve customers in the marine, rail and port sectors even better. We already started working with MWB Power more than a year ago - I can hardly wish for much better cooperation. We have supplemented the long-standing and successful management of Jörn Holst with Frank Curia, who has been part of our team for over two years," explains Wöllert.
Our strength lies in the service and repair of large engines. We practically start where Bücker + Essing ends in terms of engine size - a perfect match," emphasises Jörn Holst. And Frank Curia adds: "The mechanical manufacturing capabilities of Bücker & Essing for the repair of components will additionally fertilise our service offer in terms of flexibility and competitiveness.
„Embedded in a strong group, we are an attractive employer for our employees," Holst and Curia unanimously emphasise. "We want to further develop the existing team through targeted recruitment of well-trained professionals.“
The SERCOO Group offers a unique service portfolio in the four business segments of biogas, combined heat and power plants, engines and rotating equipment, and turbochargers. The group employs almost 400 people and is aiming for a total output of around EUR 96 million in 2023.
SERCOO specialises in individual complete services for the energy and transport sectors, as well as for industry, trade and the automotive industry. On the one hand, SERCOO's Turbo business segment deals with the distribution and repair of turbochargers; on the other hand, SERCOO is home to companies in the biogas plant, combined heat and power plant and engine and component repair sectors, as well as industrial and pump services.
